C7S4 What am I Running?

So many weapons to choose from

There are a lot of different ways to play this season. Here’s what I recommend:

• Ranger pistol as your long range weapon
• Striker shotgun as your shotgun
• Either stinger or flex smg as your spray
• Mobility for the other two slots

Here’s why I’m using these over the other weapons:

Long Range: Ranger Pistol

Why not the Chaos?
For the Chaos, the explosion/splash damage only works if your bullets hit your target or the ground near it. If you’re aiming for the body and head but miss, there’s no splash damage. That makes the Chaos rifle not that special. It’s also has a slow rate of fire and not a lot of damage.

What about the other ARs?
They’re ok, but their slow rate of fire and very long reload times is annoying for my playstyle.

What about the Lancehead Pistol?
This is pretty cool, but I don’t like having to repeatedly pull the trigger to shoot. This makes it harder for me to aim, esp at long distances. That said, if you can find one in good rarity, go for it. It’s a great weapon.

Shotgun: Striker Shotgun

Perhaps controvertial, but here’s my take. If you get good at firing the striker and then immediately switching to another weapon and then immediately switching back (even without firing), you can do a huge amount of damage because you avoid the delay you’d normally see if just firing two shots from the shotgun without switching to another weapon.

My pattern in combat is:

• Do some damage long range
• Go in for the kill, equip the shotgun
• Fire the shotgun and then immediately switch to my spray weapon and fire.
• Is the enemy almost dead? Keep spraying. If not, immediately switch back to the shotgun and shoot it again, then go back to spray.

I’ve probably posted about this way of using a shotgun before. It only works with the pump-style shotguns, like the Striker.

What about the Extending Focus Shotgun?
I’ll use it if I can’t find a striker. But it only has three shots, so if you have to fight more than 1 opponent, you need to have excellent aim.

What about the Maven Auto?
It’s good, esp in high rarities. But it doesn’t work with the style of play I described earlier. In fact, it works best if you have awesome mobility and can keep shooting it while moving around (yeah, I realize this applies to all weapons, but esp the Maven auto).

Spray Weapon: Flex of Stinger SMG

These are both good. The Flex has some medium range capability, though not excellent. I basically take whatever I find in the highest rarity.
