Hipfire. It’s hipfire. That’s what we’re going to talk about.

Do you get frantic and panic when in an up-close battle? Do your opponents always seem to jump all over you and kill you easily? This article is going to focus on the most important thing to do to help you win those battles. That secret is Hipfire.
What are Hipfire and ADS?
Do you like to hold down the left trigger and look down the scope when aiming? That’s called ADS – Aiming Down Scope. It’s great for long distance shots when you can safely aim at your opponent. It’s helpful for medium range shots, too.
ADS is horrible for up-close battles. It slows down your movement rate. It reduces your field of view. These are the opposite of what you want for an up-close battle.
Hipfire is when you shoot without using ADS. Just take your finger off the left trigger. Now shoot. You can see a lot. You can move fast. You can spin and jump and duck. Yes, your aim isn’t as precise. But you don’t need this for short range battles.
Your Left Finger is More Important than Your Aim!
You need to get disciplined about not using ADS in close-up battles. Your biggest challenge will be preventing your left finger from instinctively pressing the ADS button when you panic during an up-close battle. My advice is to tell yourself – I’m in an up-close situation, no left trigger. That’s your mantra: No left trigger.
When you’re up close, you should be using a shotgun or spray weapon like an SMG. These weapons spray a lot of lead at your opponent.
Your aim doesn’t matter as much as you think. If you’re up close and they’re in the middle of the screen, you’ll hit them. You really don’t need to aim.
You should practice shooting at people without ADS. I do this when I’m waiting for the Battle Bus to launch. Practice running around people and shooting them. The more you do this, the more comfortable you’ll get. It’s a major secret to winning close-up battles.
You Need to Move
Seriously. Don’t stand there and shoot. You need to be moving while shooting. You can rotate around the opponent while shooting them. You can jump over them while shooting (easier if you have paddles that let you jump while aiming). But whatever you do, keep moving.
Now Put these Steps Together
If there’s an up close battle, do the following:
Switch to your shotgun or spray weapon
Take your left finger off the trigger
Shoot them while moving! Keep moving! Keep that right finger on the trigger
If you run out of ammo, switch to your next weapon, but keep that left finger off the trigger and the right one on it!
Related Situations?
You can use this technique when you first land. Things are hectic then, everyone looking for weapons and shields. ADS will slow you down. You need to run and shoot.
You can also use this technique with long range weapons. I often use this with an AR if I’m in an up-close battle and that’s the best weapon I have. And if you’re really awesome, there’s are few things better than hitting someone with a sniper rifle shot by hipfire.
Now get out there and win some of those close-range frenzied battles.
